WingLights for E-scooters
Use of electric scooters have risen in popularity in recent years and it’s easy to see why. They have the potential to challenge and solve some of the biggest problems in urban cities. Not only can they increase access to public transportation but can help individuals save in the long run and reduce people’s environmental impact compared to using cars.
While some countries, like the UK, are still using trials to find out the best way to integrate e-scooters into existing transport systems, many countries such as San Francisco, Berlin and Seoul have quickly become a common mode of transport.
One issue electric scooter users face whilst riding is how to safely signal your direction intentions to other road users. There have been a number of recommendations for mandatory fitting of indicator lights on e-scooters from official bodies such as UK Transport Commiittee’s inquiry into e-scooters by the Association of British Insurers, TfL and the German Road Safety Council.
WingLights 360 by CYCL can be used on electric scooters as turn signals. WingLights are directional indicators and position lights that are designed to fit into the ends of handlebars. They are designed to highlight the riders’ position in the road, reduce near misses and increase all round visibility when riding and turning. WingLights produce a bright flashing light when activated with one touch that can be seen from all angles. A permanent position light function with a white front facing and red rear facing light can help improve width visibility particularly to road users approaching from behind.
Instead of using your hand or even your foot to signal whilst riding an e-scooter, using WingLights you will be able to tap the end of the WingLight with your little finger to activate the bright amber flashing light. By using WingLights, you will be able to keep both hands on the handlebars and minimise the risk of wobbling or unbalancing the scooter.
WingLights 360 will fit into most electric scooters that have hollow round handlebars, you will need to remove the end caps or cut off the end of the rubber grips to gain access to these.
