INSTALLING THE GPS IN THE VEHICLE
Safety Precautions
- Turn off the vehicle: Ensure the vehicle engine is turned off and the keys are removed from the ignition switch.
- Avoid direct contact with the battery terminals: Do not touch the battery terminals with bare hands or metal tools.
- Handle with care: Avoid short-circuiting the battery terminals to prevent sparks or damage.
GPS Device Installation
Follow these steps to install your MOON OBD GPS in your vehicle:
Step 1 - Vehicle Preparation
Access the vehicle battery:
Electric Bikes: The battery is commonly found in several locations, such as under the frame barrel (down tube), in the rear rack, under the seat or on the seat tube, integrated into the rear wheel hub or seat post tube.
Motorbikes: The battery is usually located under the tank, in the centre frame, or under the seat.
Electric scooters: The battery is usually housed inside the footrest or in the steering tube.
Make sure you have enough space to comfortably operate around the battery terminals.
Step 2: Connecting the wires
Minimum installation:
The minimum installation requires only 2 cables to be connected.
1) Connect the RED cable to the positive (+) pole of the battery
2) Connect the BLACK cable to the negative (-) pole of the battery
If after a few minutes from the switch-off of the ignition switch the device signals a disconnection from the battery, it is necessary to find a different power supply point for the RED and BLACK cables, the chosen line is disconnected from the control unit, check that the LEDs of the device are on or flashing after 2 hours with the ignition switch off.
Optionally, the GREY cable can be connected to control the engine cut-off system.
NOTES:
• The WHITE cable and the YELLOW cable are not used in the minimum installation.
• DO NOT CONNECT power sources not specified in the data sheet.
• Power on VCC (+) and GND (-) is required even when the vehicle is switched off.
Step 3: Positioning the GPS Device
Position the GPS device:
Find a secure location for the MOON GPS inside the vehicle, close to the battery, and use cable ties or tape to secure the device securely, preventing it from moving while driving.
The side of the GPS with the markings and QR Code (as shown in the picture) should always face upwards to ensure optimal satellite coverage. Also avoid placing the device near thick metal surfaces or other sources of interference that could block the GPS signal. The opposite side with the label can be attached to the chassis with the double-sided adhesive tape we supplied inside the box.
Side to face upwards
Step 4: Checking Operation
Start the vehicle engine:
After connecting the device, turn on the engine to start the GPS device.
Check the LED on the device to make sure it is lit. A lit LED indicates that the device is properly powered.
Step 5: Online Registration and Configuration
You can now proceed to register and configure your GPS device
